Meal Plan/Blue Bucks Service Center
Blue Bucks are the University of Michigan’s on-campus currency and are valued by students, faculty and staff for their convenience.
Blue Bucks are loaded onto your Mcard and can be used in any residential dining hall or on-campus eatery. They can also be used in residential laundry facilities and in many on-campus vending machines.
Blue Bucks are included as part of every residential meal plan. Students with meal plans can purchase additional Blue Bucks at any time. Those without meal plans (including faculty, staff and off-campus students) can purchase Blue Bucks as needed.
How to Buy Blue Bucks
No matter how you buy your Blue Bucks, they are automatically credited to your Mcard and are available for immediate use.
- Use our online system to purchase Blue Bucks via electronic funds transfer. Simply choose your login status at the top left of this screen. After logging in, select “Request Deposit” and follow the instructions. (Family or friends who wish to purchase Blue Bucks for a student via electronic funds transfer must first be authorized by the student. This is a separate login from Wolverine Access.)
- You may purchase Blue Bucks in person at Mcard Centers located on North and Central Campus. Cash or checks are accepted.
- Students can purchase Blue Bucks and have the cost added to their student bill online or by visiting any Mcard Center during the first month of each semester.
What Students Need to Know
Blue Bucks funds remaining at the end of the Fall term will automatically carry over to the Winter Term.
If you are not registered for the Spring/Summer term(s), Blue Bucks balances greater than $5 remaining at the end of the Winter Term will be refunded to your Student Account
If you are not registered for the Spring/Summer term(s), you may request that your Blue Bucks balance be carried over to the Fall Term by contacting Housing Business Services.
